Shuswap Grown is just that: a promise every product with our brand was farmed or produced right here. We want to make Shuswap products easier to recognize, and with our brand and logo, we can ensure all products that meet our criteria are easy to find.

As one of the central drivers of the local economy and a foundation of our communities, agriculture has a special place in the Shuswap. We want to celebrate this history by encouraging people to buy locally grown and made products, ensuring that we continue to prosper and grow.

Agriculture means more than just economics here; it means a cultural heritage, a shared experience across the region and a way to connect to one another. We're proud of this legacy and through the Shuswap Grown brand we hope to carry on our region's rich history. You can be sure that when you buy Shuswap Grown products that you're not only supporting our local communities, you're supporting our culture and our history.

About Our Logo

Shuswap Grown was created with input and support from agricultural producers across the Shuswap region. With their ideas in mind, our job is to communicate their unique perspectives on what Shuswap Grown really means. Our logo depicts the lush green land, mountains and lakes that define our landscape, paired with a picnic table, tying in both the concept of farm-to-table and the tourism that makes up a big part of our region.

Our History

A 2011 discussion group hosted by the Salmon Arm Economic Development Society (SAEDS) and CSRD Shuswap Economic Development saw a group of agricultural and business community members identify key challenges with agricultural business and land use in the Shuswap region. In attendance were agriculture producers from the various sectors of the industry. This was the starting point for exploring how the organizations could better support local agriculture. That discussion led to the development of this project.

In June 2014, the Project Steering Committee approved the Shuswap Agriculture Strategy. The 19 areas of recommendation and over 40 actions to undertake were meant to make the Shuswap the place to be when it comes to producing, processing and enjoying food.

Then in July 2015, Grow Shuswap partnered with the marketing & communications agency Upanup to begin developing the brand that would eventually become Shuswap Grown. Through workshops, surveys and interviews with the communities of the Shuswap region, you helped shape the design process. Themes like diversity, freshness and the natural landscapes of the region stood out. Through this community feedback, the Shuswap Grown brand was born.

Shuswap Grown is our community-driven brand design that captures the spirit and culture of the Shuswap region. The brand is meant not just as a description, but as a representation of the Shuswap region: the people, the community, and the history we all share. There's only two criteria for a product to be considered Shuswap Grown:

  • the item must be grown or harvested in the Shuswap region; 
  • or produced/processed here using at least 50% local (Shuswap grown) ingredients.
